In Lieu of Flowers - A Practical Way to Love and Care

Ingrid with her children
After what can only be described as a courageous and faith-filled fight with cancer, Ingrid Boesten went to be with Jesus on Friday 16th May at 4:15pm. Since that time we as their church community have again been considering practical ways that we can support Nico and their children at this difficult time.  After talking things over with Nico we have decided to continue to provide a way for friends to financially donate to them directly online through Paypal.

Nico has set up two educational savings plans, one for each of their children (RESP) and so in lieu of flowers he has requested that donations be made for these funds; any money sent will be equally divided between the two funds by Nico.

In addition it has been agreed that Nico take some time off work and take a vacation with the children sometime in the next few weeks.  This wil include a trip to Connecticut to visit their community there and perhaps Florida or somewhere nice.  It has been a very stressful few years for the whole family and now there are many adjustments to make that will take time. A holiday together will really help. If you would like to donate specifically to this please indicate it when you donate.

I know that Nico is deeply grateful for all the practical ways that you have supported them in these past few years and is so thankful that they are part of a community that have shown such tenderness and practical love.

Thanks for lightening the load in this tangible way.

Sincerely,
Graham Ord and the pastoral team at Kelowna Vineyard Church

An opportunity to bless the Boesten family

Ingrid and Nico
Ingrid Boesten is a woman of tremendous character and poise who has been battling cancer for the past 3 years. Although it has been a very painful road she has remained an inspiring figure, displaying immense dignity in what has been a very perplexing and challenging journey for everyone in the family.

As friends and family of Ingrid and Nico and the children, we all wish we could do more to help. The little things we are able to do to show our love usually seem very trivial in comparison to what Ingrid is battling and yet she assures us that it really does mean a lot to the family and does provide an atmosphere of loving support for them all.

Many have also asked the practical question, “Do they need money?"  So some of us in our church community asked if there were anything they would like right now that would make things that little bit easier.  Nico assured us that they would never want to milk the "charity case" thing but that there are some things they would love to do as a family together that would take some extra cash to do. These would be special things like travel perhaps or special events which would go towards creating more precious memories together as a family.

The Boesten Family
With this in mind we have created a simple way to donate to the Boesten family. By clicking on the "Donate" button below you can donate to the family directly. We all know that money can’t buy love but in this practical way of showering them with cash we can all demonstrate our love and good will for them as a family.

In the meantime please keep Ingrid in your thoughts and prayers and continue to ask for God’s perfect healing for her.

Sincerely,

Graham Ord, Dave Ward, and Cynthia Lees
